What Made Milwaukee Famous

A few weeks ago, we put out the bulletin that WHAT MADE MILWAUKEE FAMOUS was playing a free show in Las Vegas that was going to be simulcast on www.deeprockdrive.com.

During that live performance, the band ripped into a cover of Billy Joel’s song “You May Be Right”. You can give a listen to a cover of the best song ever to serve as the theme song to a 90’s sitcom based on the writings of Dave Barry ever.

IdioSYNcratic Routine: What Made Milwaukee Famous

Friday, April 11th, 2008

It’s that time again - IdioSYNcratic Routine is back to mess with your face and appendages. This time, we asked WHAT MADE MILWAUKEE FAMOUS’ drummer, Jeremy Bruch “tough” questions about ridiculous things like food, bat piss (they brought it up, not us), and about one legendary bike riding champion.

VIDEO: What Made Milwaukee Famous | “Sultan”

Thursday, February 28th, 2008

What happens when you mix an Austin indie rock band, fencing, and a badass biker? You get the new video from WHAT MADE MILWAUKEE FAMOUS. The video is for the track “Sultan” and comes from their forthcoming, and first official release on Barsuk, What Doesn’t Kill Us.

The band totally shows off a way more confident side of themselves in the video, which is a bit more stylized than their previous efforts. There’s a point where you think the band is unstoppable, then BLAM! They totally got their assed pwned by one Lance Armstrong! It’s like that guy is more man than any mere mortal. If we can only get Chuck Norris to stop following around Mike Huckabee, we’d have a chance to put Mr. Norris’ equalization skills to good use.

What Made Milwaukee Famous

WHAT MADE MILWAUKEE FAMOUS are currently prepping the world for their next album, What Doesn’t Kill Us which is due out on March 4th on Barsuk Records.

We’ve been axiously awaiting a new record from the Austin, TX group ever since their last album Trying To Never Catch Up first made us stand up and take notice. We’ve been wondering what made Milwaukee famous ever since. And frankly, we hope we never figure it out.

The band will be on the road at the end of February in suport of the record. Tour dates with Louis XIV after the jump. (more…)

Nada Surf Is Hitting The Road, Lines Up Show With Superdrag Forcing Us To Get Nostalgic For 1996

Tuesday, January 8th, 2008

It’s 1996!NADA SURF are going out on the road for the first part of 2008 in support of their new album, Lucky which will be released through Barsuk on Feb 5th. In the middle of the tour the band will be in Austin for SXSW partaking in that festival and what is has to offer.

That in and of itself is great news. The Little Ones and What Made Milwaukee Famous acting as the opening acts is even better news.

But perhaps the best news story of this entire tour is when the band hits NYC for the second time in April, they will be doing a co-headlining show with a recently reunited SUPERDRAG! This makes people like me smile for it gets us all weepy and nostalgic on the inside. And as someone mentioned earlier, the only thing missing from this show is HARVEY DANGER! Blam! Tickets go on sale this weekend.

VIDEO: What Made Milwaukee Famous | “iDecide”

Wednesday, June 20th, 2007

One could put up the argument that WHAT MADE MILWAUKEE FAMOUS released the best album of 2004 when they self-released their album Trying To Never Catch Up. Then in 2006 when Barsuk Records re-released the album you could say that they put out one of the best records of that year as well. It took a while, but the and has finally put out a music video for the first track on the album “iDecide”. Time to get yer ghost on.
