MP3: Stereophonics :: “My Friends” from Pull The Pin
Go get Adobe Flash Player!

It’s going to be a pretty hectic fall for STEREOPHONICS. Over the next few months we will see The UK trio unleash a slew of new music upon us here in the states as well as their first US tour in nearly 3 years. So say there might be some saturation from Kelly Jones, Richard Jones, and Javier Weyler is an understatement.

First up will be their album, Pull The Pin which comes out on September 9th. Though the album has already be out overseas for the last year, it never got a proper release stateside (mostly in part because the band’s previous label, V2 closed its doors) and will be the band’s first album released here since 2005. Murder By Death Plan New Record But Pause To Rock The Midwest First

Monday, October 1st, 2007

The Death are coming for you!MURDER BY DEATH have released some details about recording their new record. Though vague as hell it’s always interesting hearing what they are up to. Here’s what they had to say about the new album.

Sonic Boner Fuel…
…would be a totally sweet band name, but in this case it represents what we here at camp MBD are planning on bringing to you fine people. We have some midwest rockin’ to do before we head down to Tennessee to make THE NEW RECORD MWA HA HA. Obviously we have to keep some secrets about the album from you, but here is what I can tell you:

-It has songs on it.
-Some of ‘em are pretty loud.
-Some of ‘em aren’t.
-It’s gonna be more awesome than tit-punching Paris Hilton and giving Pete Wentz a wedgie AT THE SAME TIME. No shit.

We’ll be bringing you updates from the studio once we get the ball rolling. In the meantime, please come out and let us make sexy time to your ear holes before, during, and after the recording process.

The tour takes them through mostly the midwest but the good news is they will be hitting the East Coast again at the end of the year. Mainly two nights at Starland Ballroom with Clutch and Priestess. We’re sure it will be an “ear hole rocking” good time. Dates after the jump. (more…)

Blackfield | Bowery Ballroom | 3.16.2007

Thursday, March 29th, 2007

Steven Wilson of BlackfieldOn a night when sleet and hail made crossing Manhattan streets a ten-minute excursion, and hidden puddles lurked at every street corner, the Bowery Ballroom was more inviting than ever. However, it was the epic set by BLACKFIELD and the emotional atmosphere it created that made me completely forget about the weather outside.

With a stomach full of baked ziti, a beer in my hand and soggy sneakers on my feet, (more…)

PRESS RELEASE: Blackfield To Tour U.S.

Monday, February 5th, 2007

Blackfield
Steven Wilson and Aviv Geffen’s cross-cultural collaboration BLACKFIELD will play six dates in the U.S. this March, giving audiences a live experience of the 10 new tracks on their second album, Blackfield II, to be released March 6 on Atlantic / We Put Out Records. This is only their second time performing in the U.S., and the first time as a full 5-piece band.

Formed in 2001 as a one-off duo with the goal of producing a single EP, Blackfield grew into a 5-piece ensemble following the 2004 release of their self-titled debut album. Their sophisticated and melancholy compositions reflect both Wilson’s immense gift for melodies and Geffen’s meticulous songwriting ability, while the densely layered arrangements of acoustic and electric guitar, piano, keyboards, and strings paired with Wilson and Geffen’s yearning vocals recall the best work of bands from Coldplay to Muse to Zero 7.

Steven Wilson is best known as the leader of the band PORCUPINE TREE, whose new album Fear of a Blank Planet is set for release April 24 on Atlantic. Aviv Geffen is a highly successful solo artist and outspoken peace campaigner, with a string of gold albums in his home country of Israel.
