A Proposal From The North Atlantic, With The Help From Some Sharks

Friday, January 25th, 2008

Cullen ProposesWe wanted to send a huge congratulations out to a member of The Syndicate / We Put Out Records family. Here’s to Cullen Hendrix, drummer for The North Atlantic who recently got engaged. His fiance, Sarah who works as a diver at the shark tank in an aquarium provided for a unique way for Cullen to pop the question.

Usually when someone proposes at an aquarium the diver helps by holding up a sign with the question to aid the asking. In this case, the diver was the recipient of the question so Cullen had to improvise a bit. Cullen got on the mic to talk to Sarah while in the tank as he got down and asked the question in front of a room full of guests. Also in the room, were a few TV cameras to tape the entire thing. ABC was on hand to record the event and later aired it nationally on their morning show, Good Morning America.

Congratulations Cullen! We wish the best for you and Sarah and hope you both have a long life of wedded bliss.

INTERVIEW: The North Atlantic

Tuesday, January 9th, 2007

Dirty, dirty, dirty...

Punctuate.org just ran an interview with our boys in THE NORTH ATLANTIC. To you, my lovely Synners, I present it:

The North Atlantic
11 November 2006, Saturday
at Common Grounds
Gainesville, Florida
Interview by Liz Kelly

The only band I’ve been listening to for about the past month and a half has been The North Atlantic. Their frenetic energy and smart lyrics caught my attention and I was hooked. One recent Saturday I made the two hour journey to Gainesville to see the band for the first time and after meeting them and spending some time together, I’m even more enamored with them. Their live show didn’t hurt either, playing a short five song set, but including both an old and new song. The 125 mile roundtrip was totally worth it.

Go ahead and say your names and what you do and what band you are.
Cullen: We are the North Atlantic from San Diego, California. My name is Cullen Hendrix and I play drums.
Richards: My name is Jason Richards, I play bass and I play keyboards a little bit, too.
Jason: My name is Jason Hendrix, I play guitar and I sing - or yell - and I play keyboards as well a little bit.

How did you guys end up on a label with bands like Patent Pending?

The North Atlantic | The Knitting Factory, NYC | 12.6.2006

THE NORTH ATLANTIC held true to their promise and swallowed Iceland last night at The Knitting Factory (yes that makes 3 nights in a row there). The band opened the night, which was a holiday party thrown by the fine folks over at Purevolume. The San Diego trio ripped through 5 songs from their latest album Wires In The Walls like a band on a mission. Once the smoke cleared they debuted an epic 7+ minute new song that would even make the guys in ISIS’ jaws drop. (more…)
