Indiana’s MURDER BY DEATH have parted ways with the East West label system. Their last album In Bocca Al Lupo was released on the band’s own label Tent Show through the label incubation system.

According to the band, they are “hunting for babes and money”. The band have released this press release.

Clear your calendars! The 27th Annual CMJ Music Marathon will take place from Tuesday, October 16 to Saturday, October 20 in New York City. And for the first time in over a decade, the headquarters have moved downtown. Together with NYU, the world famous Puck building, and dozens of legendary venues, this year’s Marathon will continue to feature performances from the best of the best new artists from around the world.

Join 12,000 music professionals and over 100,000 music fans in New York this October. CMJ Music Marathon has helped thousands of artists gain worldwide success including the Shins, Arcade Fire, Black Eyed Peas, Modest Mouse, the Killers, and Wilco, just to name a few. Late last night after it was officially announced that XM and Sirius satellite radio companies will be merging, Sirius CEO, Mel Karmazin has released this statement.

Steven Wilson and Aviv Geffen’s cross-cultural collaboration BLACKFIELD will play six dates in the U.S. this March, giving audiences a live experience of the 10 new tracks on their second album, Blackfield II, to be released March 6 on Atlantic / We Put Out Records. This is only their second time performing in the U.S., and the first time as a full 5-piece band.

Formed in 2001 as a one-off duo with the goal of producing a single EP, Blackfield grew into a 5-piece ensemble following the 2004 release of their self-titled debut album. Their sophisticated and melancholy compositions reflect both Wilson’s immense gift for melodies and Geffen’s meticulous songwriting ability, while the densely layered arrangements of acoustic and electric guitar, piano, keyboards, and strings paired with Wilson and Geffen’s yearning vocals recall the best work of bands from Coldplay to Muse to Zero 7.

Steven Wilson is best known as the leader of the band PORCUPINE TREE, whose new album Fear of a Blank Planet is set for release April 24 on Atlantic. Aviv Geffen is a highly successful solo artist and outspoken peace campaigner, with a string of gold albums in his home country of Israel.

We Put Out Records has announced the signing of MUSTACHE. The Duluth, Minnesota-based band includes Travis Falcontamer & Jesse Grizzlebottom. Travis is Adam from Murder By Death’s “cousin” and Jesse used to be a guitar tech for the band. A release is due in early 2007.

Falcontamer had this to say:

Man we rock. Well, we’ve got some news. Some’ll like it and some’ll say that we’s is fancypantses. We signed to a record label! That’s right, the hardest rockin band in the united countries of America sold out. We singed to we put out records! See, its a funny name cause its true, they indeed put records out, but there’s also a sexual connonnotation there. Not bad for yanks. Anyway, our badass album is called “babes say the hottest things”. And they do. Well, I digress. buy our album that comes out in 2007 or be struck down by a badass wizard with a flaming sword.
