It seems Frank Black wants to torture the PIXIES fans out there (me included). Since the groundbreaking band’s reunion in 2004 he’s dropped hints of them entering the studio to record a new album. Making what would be their first new work since 1991’s Trompe Le Monde.

So far, all we’ve gotten was the digital-only single, “Bam Thwak”; which held up considerably well to the band’s legendary catalog. Black has also gone on to say his recent solo album, Bluefinger (which he donned the Black Francis moniker to get in the mood) was partly in attempt to get Joey, Kim, and David together in a studio. Australia’s ESKIMO JOE have been out there promoting their latest album Black Fingernails, Red Wine hard. From stops this summer at Live Nation to a US tour at the end of the summer. It’s been a steady upward cimb for them.

We just got our hands on an mp3 of them covering the Pixies tune “Hey”. Lay your ears upon it and see if they do Black Francis and co justice.
