Monday, June 16th, 2008

This past Saturday our annual summer party, HOODSTOCK rematched Pirate! Promotion’s summer party, FLAG DAY. It was a fight to the finish (of the beer) on the battleground of Fontana’s. Who won? We have no idea. We were too busy having fun.

Musicsnobery Puts Out Request To The Heavy Hitters For Some Anniversary Party Help

Friday, April 4th, 2008

Musicsnobbery is having a 3 year anniversary party on April 10th at Maxwell’s in NJ. The lineup seemed secured until the recent breakup of the Philly, The Teeth. See, The Teeth were to be the headlining act for the show, and their breakup put a hole in the headlining spot for the show.

After asking 61 area acts to fill the void with no luck, it seems Chris is taking a more drastic approach to the situation. He’s released a video for the audience of just 4 musicians - Moby, Ben Gibbard, Kate Nash, and Win Butler pleading them to consider his show.

It’s a great idea and spoof of the classic SNL skit where the show’s producer Lorne Michaels tried to reunite The Beatles on the air for the bargain basement price of $3,000.

Oh and he’s 100% serious about this! You can get tickets to the party on ticketweb.

DJ Stereo Faith Lives A Lush Life

Tuesday, March 18th, 2008

One of our favorite DJ’s to grace the turntables at our parties is DJ Stereo Faith. He is able to seamlessly transition from Bad Brains to Hot Chip to Kurtis Blow to Jawbreaker, and mix old new wave songs in with the newest indie rock. I love him because he throws in some rare gems which make people actually pause their dancing to say “Holy shit, I haven’t heard this in AGES!”

But if you want to check out Stereo Faith, then you can head to Fontana’s this Friday (and every third Friday of the month) from 10pm-4am for his new Lush Life party.

The Raveonettes Record Release Party Had Us Screaming For Lust Lust Lust

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

Pat and Graham

We’re always down for a get together so it was no surprise to catch us at The Annex last night for a little party put on by Vice Records to celebrate the release of the new album Lust Lust Lust by THE RAVEONETTES. The Newcastle was flowing at the bar and the dj was playing the tunes. Not much more one needs than that.

The band’s sounds is a blend of vintage garage rock and fuzz, packed into what often sounds like the soundtrack to a classic black and white horror film. Check out their first single “Aly Walk With Me”.

What Made Milwaukee Famous

WHAT MADE MILWAUKEE FAMOUS are currently prepping the world for their next album, What Doesn’t Kill Us which is due out on March 4th on Barsuk Records.

We’ve been axiously awaiting a new record from the Austin, TX group ever since their last album Trying To Never Catch Up first made us stand up and take notice. We’ve been wondering what made Milwaukee famous ever since. And frankly, we hope we never figure it out.

Spin Year In Music Party | Highline Ballroom, NYC | 1.15.2007

Wednesday, January 16th, 2008

Ted Leo

Last night Spin Magazine held their year in music party featuring performances by Ted Leo and the Pharmacists, Brother Ali, and Eagles of Death Metal.

Brother Ali opened up the show with some smooth rhymes, before Ted Leo took the stage and rocked some faces off. Ted played material mostly from his latest release Living With The Living with fan favorite “Where Have All The Rudeboys Gone” thrown in the middle. Closing out the night was mustache sporting bar rockers Eagles of Death Metal, who unfortunately performed to a half filled room. An after midnight set on a Tuesday perhaps wasn’t very appealing to most. Check below for a few pictures from the show. (more…)
