ADAM TURLA lead singer/drinker of MURDER BY DEATH has released a new track online. The song, called “The Moon Is Up” was posted on a myspace page Turla made for the song, which is described as a B-Side.
Is seems Turla posted the track strictly to share, because reading the page gives off no notification there’s a solo album in the works. No art, no friends and a post that friend requests and comments will not be approved.

THE KING LEFT played round 2 of their 3 week residency at Piano’s last night. The show debuted a new multimedia experience created by
Matt Dunn, who also directed their video for
“The Storm In The Teacup.” The presentation was strung together abstract clips of black and white video that was accentuated by the changes of the music. The visual element brought some new life to King Left favorites like “By The End, Juggling Wolves” and “Brant.” They also played a cool rendition of P.J. Harvey’s “A Perfect Day Elise.”
One offbeat moment of the night came when a “random dude” walked in selling weird flashing trinkets (seen below.) Now the show was an benefit for Autism research, so a) did this dude pay to get in to sell flashing trinkets and b) were the proceeds of flashing trinket sales (I saw at least one sale) go to benefit Autism research? The answers of these questions will likely remain unknown.
The King Left finish their residency next thursday at 9:30pm at Piano’s. Check out more photos after the jump. Read More…

As many have noted, this past weekend in New York was the greatest “punk rock” weekend in sometime. Saturday night alone saw performances across the city from
Hot Water Music,
Alkaline Trio,
Circle Jerks,
Dillinger 4,
American Steel,
Paint It Black,
Thursday,
Trash Talk and more. If only they had made a huge festival out of this.
As you can tell by the headline, we caught the Hot Water Music reunion show which had support from Thursday and Paint It Black. Each band was spot on, and the ferocious Paint It Black even did a damn fine job making Terminal 5 seem like a basement show as Dan Yemin stood against the barrier the whole time as the crowd gathered close and screamed along.
Thursday’s set included a few songs from each full length as well as a new song from their forthcoming split with Envy. It was an instrumental track called, “In Silence” that sounded stunning.
Hot Water Music was amazing as always. This was actually the third show on their ongoing reunion tour I have seen this year and they never disappoint.

MP3: Rob Dickinson :: “The End Of The World”
ROB DICKINSON’s tour stopped off in NYC last night for a show at The Mercury Lounge. We hit up the show to catch the former Catherine Wheel frontman in action and he didn’t dissappoint.
Though taking the stage about 45 minutes later than advertised, Dickinson wasted no time “getting into it” and performed songs of his recently re-issued album Fresh Wine For The Horses with new tracks and an acoustic bonus EP.
Early (perhaps a bit too early) the next morning, our own Pat Shillenn met up with Rob over at NYC radio station WRXP for an interview on Matt Pinfield’s morning show. There, Rob and Matt discussed the new album, living in the states, and Rob’s famous cousin (Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden). Rob played two acouctic songs, one of the album’s first single, “The End Of The World” and the Catherine Wheel classic, “Black Metallic”
Wrapping up a very Rob Dickinson-filled 12 hours for The Syndicate.
