J. Gale Kilgore Presents A Dovecote Christmas

Wednesday, November 21st, 2007

A Dovecote ChrismasThis Friday marks the first shopping day of the Christmas holiday season (even though I definitely saw commercials for it before Halloween).

Regardless, the fine folks over at Dovecote Records are in the giving spirit and have something for you that you can have for nothing, free, zip, nada. They teamed up with J. Gale Kilgore to cover Dovecote artists and give them away free as a download-only album.

Kilgore covers songs from Tim Williams, Aberdeen City, Mason Proper, Bad Veins, and Don The Reader for J. Gale Kilgore Presents A Dovecote Christmas.

When we asked Dovcote owner/thrashmaster general Carter Matschullat about the project and he stated,

Many people think this is just a simple grouping of artist mp3s. But when J. Gale is involved only his sublime work ethic and musical style will suffice. Therefore, he chose to use only the lyrics and write the songs…the right way.

Happy High Five Day! Plus High Five Day Soundtrack

Thursday, April 19th, 2007

Apparently the third Thursday of April is National High Five Day and what would High Five Day be without it’s own soundtrack?! The soundtrack is actually way more indie rock then dude rock as many might expect including tracks from The Hold Steady, The Thermals, Loudon Wainright III (who has built up quite a filmography lately) and of course the man who embodies high fives and everything that is awesome, Andrew W.K.! Check out the Mp3s for the soundtrack here

At time of publication there was no response from the people at National High Five Day as to why The Italian was left off the soundtrack again this year.
