Rainn Wilson Kidnaps Jenna Fischer In Attempt To Boost Movie Ticket Sales

Thursday, August 14th, 2008

Rainn Wilson might have taken things a bit too far in an attempt to get the word out about his new movie, The Rocker.

Wilson thought it would be a great way to ensure people would buy tickets by taking his co-star Jenna Fischer from The Office hostage. So now Jenna is currently lying the trunk of Wilson’s sweet, sweet Firebird until the movie makes 18.7 Million dollars it’s opening weekend.

Wilson explained his intentions when he logged into Jenna’s Myspace page and made this post. Some videos were released and a website, www.freejennanow.com was made to update the public with Rainn’s demands. Check out some ransom videos after the jump. (more…)

A Convergence Of Legends | Vans And Johnny Ramone

Thursday, April 3rd, 2008

VANS has launched a whole new breed of artist collaborations, in conjunction with a new website called Vans Apparel. The new site serves as a cleaner, more modern showcase for Vans new product lines, and a foray into more design-oriented crossovers.

One of the new lines being showcased is as crossover in respect to the late, great Johnny Ramone. Ramone, a true influence in punk music, and named by Rolling Stone as the “16th greatest guitarist ever” passed away in 2004, but as with so many thing, the legend lives on.

Direct from the mouth of Vans –

“Vans pays homage to the roots of punk with the Johnny Ramone Collection. As the legendary guitar player for the seminal punk band, Johnny’s fast and furious guitar work laid down the foundation of all punk to come and influenced many of today’s top artists. The collection includes two t-shirts, one with a classic concert shot while the other is emblazoned with the band’s seal, and a Johnny Ramone Skinny jean. A pair of Johnny Ramone Classic Slip-On shoes complete the collection.”

You can check out more pics of the apparel after the jump. (more…)

Didn’t The Idea Of Using Dead Musicians To Sell Footwear Already Prove To Be A Bad Idea?

Friday, March 21st, 2008

It hasn’t even been a year since fans were up in arms over Dr. Marten’s and its use of dead celebrities in a footwear ad campaign, but it looks like we’re going to catch another glimpse of some ad exec’s “great idea”.

Converse is next in line to take a stab at reaping the bad-press-is-good-press wave that I’m sure will come with their new sneaker/dead musician campaign. For they too are planning on using Gen-X posterboy, Kurt Cobain to hock their footwear.

Hey Converse! If you haven’t written your public apology yet, you can always refer to Dr. Marten’s as a guide.

Ladies and gentlemen, the next attempt to milk the Cobain cow… (more…)

Actors Revealed In The New X-Men Movie

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

First released photo of Wolverine movie

We’ve been excited about the upcoming X-Men spinoff films based on the origins of the franchise’s most popular characters. The first star to get the treatment is Wolverine in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Hugh Jackman we be reprising his role as the title character.

Now, some other people have been named to star in the flick. Judging from the roles being cast, it seems that most of the movie will focus on the days of Wolvie’s time in the Canadian Weapon X program.

Ryan Reynolds is said to be the masked, wisecracking, sword-toting Deadpool. Black Eyed Peas rapper Will.I.Am is to play John Wraith. Also announced are Liev Schreiber (as Sabretooth), Danny Huston (as William Stryker) and Lynn Collins (as Silver fox).

Perhaps our the most exciting piece of news is the announcement that there will indeed be an appearance by everyone’s favorite Creole-card tosser Gambit! Taylor Kitsch (aka Tim Riggins from Friday Night Lights) has signed on for a 3 movie deal to star as Gambit. A character we all were pretty excited to see in the first set of trilogies but never got to see.

The movie is said to hit theaters May 1, 2009.

Sarah Silverman Is Having “Relations” With Matt Damon

Friday, February 1st, 2008

There’s been a long-running joke on Jimmy Kimmel Live where at the end of the show each night, Jimmy would say “Appologies to Matt Damon, we ran out of time.” Alluding to an untrue scenario of the actor being booked on the show but they weren’t able to interview him because of time. Kimmel had signed his show off this way for many months. In 2006, Damon even did a bit at the end of one of episode where he flips out at Kimmel after being introduced. Kimmel has even blown Damon off on the red carpet and spoofed his movies to take the joke even further.

Last night Damon got some revenge. Kimmel’s long time girlfriend Sarah Silverman was the guest on the show and wrote a song for Jimmy telling him exactly what she’s been up to as of late. Matt Damon used it as a chance to exact a little bit of revenge to the constant jabs Kimmel took at him all these years.

Kimmel is said to have a retaliation clip called “I’m F*cking Ben Afleck” that will soon air. Hopefully there too will be a synchronized dance to go along with it.
