Junior Senior Announce They Are No Longer Shaking Their Coconuts Together

Friday, September 26th, 2008

It’s a sad day in the shake-whatcha-momma-gave-ya world of music. According to a post on their Myspace page the Danish duo JUNIOR SENIOR have announced they will no longer be making glorious, neon colored, dancey music together.

Though they didn’t really give us any gossip-worthy reason as to why the break up actually happend, they did say there were plans for them to continue on with solo careers. With Jesper (Jr.) continuing on with his two new projects - I Scream Ice Cream and The Little Sisters and one for Senior, Jeppe.

The Joker And The Thief Quit Wolfmother

Thursday, August 7th, 2008

The Aussie rock and roll three piece known as WOLFMOTHER, have confirmed they are indeed breaking up…sorta. Drummer Myles Heskett and bassist/keyboardist Chris Ross have both left the band.

Tensions in the band forced them into a mini hiatus the band recently regrouped to record some new material. Upon finishing that material they played a few shows to test the new songs out. But the tension was still there for Ross so he announced he was leaving the band. Rather than move on with a new lineup, Hesskett decided it was better to leave the band. After a few days of internet rumors, the band finally released an official statement that can be read after the jump. (more…)

Cursed Have Broken Up

Friday, May 23rd, 2008

When most folks discuss Canadian bands, names like Celine Dion and Shania Twain surface, as do feelings of resentment for sending them to our side of the border. One of their saving graces was Cursed, a metal-based hardcore band whose aggression was always faced towards society and not within the scene they called home. Singer Chris Colohan brought the same power and thought to his lyrics that he did for The Swarm and Ruination.

Sadly, Cursed called it quits yesterday, after being robbed in Europe where they were on tour.

You can read the whole story here. And check out their video for “Fatalist” after the jump. (more…)

Folly Announce Break-Up

Wednesday, February 6th, 2008

FollyThey say all good things must come to an end. That seems to be the case with the New Jersey based band FOLLY. The band posted yesterday on their myspace page in a heartfelt long letter that it was time for them to call it quits with Folly and begin new chapters of their lives. For nearly a decade Folly played their special blend of hardcore and ska that captured the hearts of kids all across the country and will certainly be missed by many. I for one can’t even tell you how many pile on sing-along’s I’ve accidentally ended up in the middle of.

For those fortunate enough to be in the NY/NJ/CT area you will get to see them play a few final shows in the not too distant future. Everyone else will have to settle for downloading some new songs that the band will be releasing digitally. They call it their version of “copying demo tapes and handing them out”. Each song they are releasing is named after a town the band broke down in; an interesting and unusual “concept album” that they are referring to as “sequel to the band and the prequel to the rest of our lives”. Keep your eyes to their myspace for final show info and when the demos will be released.

Thursday, November 8th, 2007

The Blood BrothersThere’s been speculation for a few weeks that Seattle’s THE BLOOD BROTHERS were breaking/broken up yet there has been no official statement from the band.

That is until now, the band has officially announced that they are no longer a band and are going their separate ways.

Dear Friends,

After 10 years of making music as The Blood Brothers, we have made the collective decision that our time together has come to an end. We feel extremely fortunate to have spent such a deeply memorable and amazing part of our lives with each other. At this point, however, we feel it’s best that our futures move forward on separate paths. We’d like to express our sincerest thanks and gratitude to all the bands we’ve played with, individuals who have helped us make our records, and fans who have come to our shows and picked up our music throughout the years. Our friendship, support and love hold such a profoundly special place in each of our hearts. We hope that the memories you attach to our music are as fond as those you have given us. Thank you and take care, we’ll miss all of you.

Love,
The Blood Brothers

Read Yellow Break Up

Tuesday, February 27th, 2007

Read Yellow

According to a post on their blog Amherst, MA band READ YELLOW are calling it quits after 6 years.

When Read Yellow started six years ago in a basement dorm at Umass Amherst, the four of us had no idea where our music would take us. We played music with hopes to make our friends want to have a good time and forget the daily stresses of modern life. We wanted to create music that spoke to and for the underdog, and made him or her want to come out to our shows and dance and be free with total strangers…without reservation. Our music took us out of the basements of Umass and sent us across the globe, allowed us the chance to perform with our musical heroes, and most importantly, gave four best friends the best six years of their lives.

We have done more than we had ever expected to do in a band, now it is time to leave the party. We have played shows for 2 kids and shows for 10,000 kids…and each show was special. We have made the greatest friends through this band and for the first time in my life, I really felt part of something big. I want to thank all of our friends who have supported us, taken us on tour, slept in our van, fixed our van, put up posters and flyers for us, put us on shows, gave us a place to stay, listened to our records, and came out and partied with us…Read Yellow could have never existed without you. Thank you for believing in us.

Read Yellow will always be your band.

We Love You All So Much!

The band has 3 final shows planned and then they will walk off into the night guitars in hand.
