If You Can’t Wait Until October To Get The New Bloc Party Album, They Drop A “Trojan Horse”

Tuesday, August 19th, 2008

BLOC PARTY seem pretty anxious for people to hear their new record. So much in fact they decided to sell the album digitally starting this Thursday, August 21st. A quick glance at a calendar will confirm your initial thoughts, this is a full 2 months before the physical release of Intimacy.

It just seems the band cannot contain their excitement, in an email to their fans they stated the new album is closer in style to their danceable debut, Silent Alarm and not as serious as their sophomore A Weekend In The City. The jury still seems to be out about the album’s first new song/video for “Mercury”. But for now there’s promise, and another new track, “Trojan Horse”.

MP3: Bloc Party :: “Trojan Horse” via Myspace.

Intimacy can be ordered through the band’s website. When it comes out October 27th, there will be a few bonus tracks. Also, not to spite the diehard fans, those wanting the physical copy will get the digital version if they pre-order the physical album through the site. (more…)

BLOC PARTY are feverishly working to finish up their 3rd album. Judging from what we’ve heard so far, that shizz is going to have some danceable beats to it for sure.

And if doesn’t, we can take super comfort in the fact they make videos with monkeys in them. ‘Cause let’s face it, monkeys make EVERYTHING better…everything!

A while back BLOC PARTY debuted their new song “Flux” on Late Night With Conan O’Brien. They have a new studio video for the song. This comes fresh off the heels of us running into one of the monsters from Kaiju Big Battel during CMJ so it’s no surprise that we now have what can best be described as a Beastie Boys - inspired video featuring those crazy Kaiju monsters.

STREAM: Two Bloc Party Live Tracks

Wednesday, April 18th, 2007

Bloc party played a couple songs for BBC radio and posted em on their MySpace blog. One is a pretty good acoustic rendition of “I Still Remember” and the other is a less-than-pretty-good cover of Nelly Furtado’s “Say it Right.” Click here to check em out.

The Blue Walrus (not pictured above) just posted a pretty cool compilation on his blog with remixes of some pretty cool songs. The two that immediately grabbed my attention were “Waters of Nazareth” by Justice and remixed by John Redden and “I Still Remember” by Bloc Party remixed by SebastiAn. Click your greedy little mice below and pull em into your computer.

Bloc Party Are Readers

Monday, February 5th, 2007

From WikipediaWe probably aren’t the first to notice, but BLOC PARTY must enjoy Bret Easton Ellis books as much as we do. The entire first track on their new album, “Song For Clay (Disappear Here)” is a tribute of sorts. If you have realized this yet, here are some points of interest so that you can bring this subject up at a cool party this weekend, and sound like you know what you are talking about:

- Clay is the main character/narrator in Ellis’ book, Less Than Zero

- “Disappear Here” is the slogan from a billboard in the same book that troubles Clay throughout the story.

- “Bubbles rise in the champagne flutes, but when we kiss I feel nothing” is a reference to American Psycho

You’ll have to figure out the rest for yourself.
