Musicsnobery Puts Out Request To The Heavy Hitters For Some Anniversary Party Help

Friday, April 4th, 2008

Musicsnobbery is having a 3 year anniversary party on April 10th at Maxwell’s in NJ. The lineup seemed secured until the recent breakup of the Philly, The Teeth. See, The Teeth were to be the headlining act for the show, and their breakup put a hole in the headlining spot for the show.

After asking 61 area acts to fill the void with no luck, it seems Chris is taking a more drastic approach to the situation. He’s released a video for the audience of just 4 musicians - Moby, Ben Gibbard, Kate Nash, and Win Butler pleading them to consider his show.

It’s a great idea and spoof of the classic SNL skit where the show’s producer Lorne Michaels tried to reunite The Beatles on the air for the bargain basement price of $3,000.

Oh and he’s 100% serious about this! You can get tickets to the party on ticketweb.

People Go Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga For The Short-List This Year

Thursday, January 24th, 2008

The Short ListOkay so SPOON wasn’t the only band nominated for this year’s Short-List Music Prize but they had the best album title that could be used for making a snazzy headline like I did.

Nominess come from a large pool of usually independent (spirited if not labeled) artists called, you guessed it, the Long-List. After that, a panel narrows down the list down to determine one winner for the year. This year’s panelists were Gary Lightbody (Snow Patrol), Ronnie Vannucci (The Killers), Rev. Moose (CMJ), Chris Douridas (KCRW) and the hosts of Hunnypot Internet Radio.

This year, 7 of the 10 finalists are from outside of the United States, making it one of the most diverse showing of a list in a while. Past winners have included Sigur-Ros, N*E*R*D, TV On The Radio, Wilco, M.I.A., and Sufjan Stevens.

Monday, February 19th, 2007

ARCADE FIRE graced New York City for 5 days to debut material from their forthcoming album Neon Bible and tore the roof off the beautiful Judson Memorial Church. I was lucky enough to score a ticket to the Friday February 16th show while furiously clicking on tickets.com the moment tickets went on sale in January. And then the famed ebay and craiglist scandals ensued. The show became the hottest ticket in NYC all year. But could the band really ever live up to the hype?

The answer is simply: yes!
