Cold War Kids Prep New Album, We Heard It

COLD WAR KIDS announced their second album will be released this fall. Something we’ve been totally excited to hear for a while now. And last night we got that chance, yep we heard it!

We were invited to a small listening party at the band’s label (Downtown Recordings) to listen to the album. 20 or so people gathered into the label’s new offices. The new offices have a recording studio in them, which we could imagine would help when running a label. After everyone showed up we were ushered into the studio, handed a tracklisting and then treated to the band’s new album.

It was 13 tracks of pure Cold War Kids! The signature art you’ve come to expect from the band, fantastic vocals, powerful drumming and sometimes offbeat subject matter ranging from Summertime in the city to Mexican Dogs. There are definitely some stand out tracks on the first listen, like the rockers “I’ve Seen Enough” and “Something Is Not Right With Me” that are sure to satisfy.

At the time of the listening, the album has yet to be titled but it is due out in stores on September 23rd, setting things up for a perfect back to school album. In fact, the only complaint we have is we were not given copies of the record and can’s listen to it more! But that’s hardly something to whine about.

In the mean time we’ll have to settle for the studio clip they released on their youtube page. It teases us with a bit of “I’ve Seen Enough”.

Cold War Kids - Something Is Not Right With Me…

Opening with a deliciously dark, thumping bassline, California’s Cold War Kids have successfully stamped their return with a cracking new single.
