Twenty-five years since they last played a concert, No-Wave legends TEENAGE JESUS AND THE JERKS reunited this past Friday the 13th at New York’s Knitting Factory for two sets billed as a “One night only reunion.” Joined on bass by everlasting fan-boy Thurston Moore, who first earned his stripes playing in Glenn Branca’s orchestra, the outing had everything a fan could ask for.

Coming out declaring “No, not ‘yes’, NO,” Lydia Lunch gave the crowd just what they expected from the No Wave legends. The band played a loud and abrasive 20-minute set, about a quarter of which was Lydia Lunch calling some heckler in the front row a few expletives.

The timing of the show couldn’t be better, what with the recent release of the Thurston Moore and Byron Coley penned No Wave: Post-Punk. Underground. New York 1976-1980 book having just come out weeks before. The book gives the lineage and background of almost every band involved in the No Wave movement.
