It’s been a long 5 years since we got an album from SPIRITUALIZED. The years have probably been better to us than the band’s brainchild J Spaceman. For he spent a decent chunk of the down time in the hospital battling a life-threatening double pneumonia and legionnaire’s disease.
But that seems behind Spaceman, who definitely has taken his illness in stride. He’s named the new record Songs In A&E (as in Accident & Emergency) and the imaging of the album art we get shows a variety of hospital supplies (heavy on the needles of course).
We’ve been lucky enough to get an advance of the entire new album and it’s been in almost constant rotation ever since we opened the mail. After hearing the record so much as of late we can say with confidence that it’s some of our favorite work of J Spacemen yet!
Spaceman just re-launched his Myspace page where you can stream the song’s first single, “Soul On Fire” as well as minute-long clip of another track, “Sweet Talk”.

If you missed Spiritualized at Coachella this past weekend, don’t worry, there are some US dates lined up for the summer. Songs In A&E hits shelves on May 27th. The single for “Soul On Fire” will be on iTunes on May 6th. And you can pick up deluxe and vinyl versions of the album on June 17th.
