Old 97’s Played A New Song On Leno

Sunday, April 27th, 2008

Friday we got an advance of the new OLD 97’s album, Blame It On Gravity and being longtime fans of the band, we were super-eager to tear through and disect the band’s first set of new tunes in 4 years.

As if that wasn’t enough, later that night, Rhett, Murray, Ken and Philip ended up on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno performing a new song “Dance With Me”. It was almost too much Old 97’s greatness to absorb.

DOWNLOAD: 3 songs from Blame It On Gravity at Amazon.
PRE-ORDER: Blame It On Gravity | Blame It On Gravity: Deluxe Edition

Blame It On Gravity tracklisting and tour dates can be seen after the jump. (more…)

What Made Milwaukee Famous Goes Out And Cover’s Billy Joel

What Made Milwaukee Famous

A few weeks ago, we put out the bulletin that WHAT MADE MILWAUKEE FAMOUS was playing a free show in Las Vegas that was going to be simulcast on www.deeprockdrive.com.

During that live performance, the band ripped into a cover of Billy Joel’s song “You May Be Right”. You can give a listen to a cover of the best song ever to serve as the theme song to a 90’s sitcom based on the writings of Dave Barry ever.

Go get Adobe Flash Player!

The Syndicate’s 2nd Annual Fantasy Baseball League | Week 3

Thursday, April 24th, 2008

There are a few symbols and abbreviations in the Yahoo! Fantasy Spots league every manager should know. For example, a ‘x’ symbol next to a player right before game time is a helpful heads-up and means that player is not in the starting lineup. If caught in time, a manger could replace the player with someone on their bench so they don’t lose out on potential points for the day.

An abbreviation every manager knows but FEARS is ‘INF’. This is short for ‘infinite’ and it relates to a pitcher’s ERA and WHIP after they get SHELLACKED. Some of us in the office use INF as a figure of speech now. Unfortunately, a couple of us saw the INF this weekend on our fantasy leagues (ex. Dan with Eric Gagne and Elles with Joba Chamberlin yesterday afternoon). Here’s the recap on Week 3: (more…)

Owen

A few weeks ago OWEN (stage name of Mike Kinsella) came to Berklee College of Music and put on a terrific show. He played a great mix of new and old songs, leaving the crowd shouting for more. About ten seconds after his last song Owen announced that he was paid a ridiculous amount for the show and decided to play two more tracks before he left.

Check out a video of Owen performing “Possum for a Peek” after the jump. (more…)

50 Cent’s New Video Game | “Blood On The Sand”

Monday, April 21st, 2008

Blod On The Sand

A few years back 50 CENT put out a video game called Bulletproof, and he’s now readying the follow up, Blood on the Sand. Now I am going to briefly explain the premise of this game, which is 100% real.

In fact, you can check out the screen shots on MTV.com. 50 Cent and the G-Unit visit an unknown country in the Middle East to play a benefit concert. Believable. At said concert all hell breaks loose after the concert promoter refuses to pay 50 for his performance. After being threatened by 50 Cent and crew, the promoter gives them a diamond-encrusted skull, obviously. Then it really starts to go down when they are ambushed before leaving the country and the skull is stolen! Instead of leaving the country, 50 cent and the G-Unit take upon themselves to go rogue and gain back the skull.

How awesome will this game be on a scale of 1 to 10?
