Multi-talented guitarist Marcus Henderson, whose guitar work is prominently featured in the Guitar Hero series of video games, has had one of his 2005 Gibson Flying V guitars placed in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Henderson’s guitar is part of a Guitar Hero exhibition featured in the lobby of the hall. The exhibit also includes axes from Kurt Cobain, Johnny Cash, Dimebag Darrell, and Joe Strummer, among others.
“This is not a dream come true because honestly, I never thought I’d be there in my life, except maybe as a paying customer,” Henderson says. “The success of Guitar Hero and the support of its fans has inspired me to a level where I’m sandwiched between Jerry Garcia and Johnny Cash’s guitars in the most prestigious monument to our craft in the world.”
The guitar Henderson donated was used in the creation of the wildly successful Guitar Hero series of video games. Henderson’s guitar work graces all of the cover songs in the three Guitar Hero games. The most recent game, Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, sold over $100 million in its first week on the market.
