Adidas Digs The Classics
posted by Gray on February 24th, 2008 in Fashion
The Adidas Superstar is widely considered to be one of the most iconic pieces of HipHop fashion, thanks in part to RUN DMC’s sporting thereof, back in the day. Adidas has never forgotten this, having released collabo’s with RUN DMC in the last few years, as well as many other artists spanning the musical globe, including Missy Elliot, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and more.
But now they’ve stepped it up, having going back even further into the roots of musical influence…
Adidas has released a new collection based around the Pro Model (the Superstar’s high-topped brother) in conjunction with some truly classic record labels as part of the new/upcoming Sounds Of The City line, including not only Tuff Gong Records (the classic reggae label), but also a personal favorite – Blue Note Records.

The collection includes various pieces, including a Pro-model emblazoned with the Blue Note Records logo, in a Blue/Gray colorway (the irony is not lost on your intrepid writer), as well as a very clean, sleek, modern-line black jacket.

The combined iconography, history, and influence on HipHop culture that both the label and the brand maintain couldn’t have possibly found a better way to work together. I’m in - can’t wait to see the rest of the collection when it reveals, as there have also been hints in regards to a Motown collection possibly down the line.

These shoes are pretty cool looking and I haven’t cared about Addidas since grade school. I dig it.
Do the Blue Note shoes come with a John Coltrane box set?
