Band Of Horses rocked 2007 because:
Band Of HorsesIn a year that saw the release of a new Radiohead record, it’s pretty remarkable for something else to take the top spot on my best of the year list. I’m not sure that Band Of Horses is actually the “best” record of the year. But I am sure that no other record meant more to me than Cease To Begin. From start to finish, the record captivates my attention, each song brimming with heartbreak and longing.

Favorite Thing Of The Year: Radiohead’s unconventional release of In Rainbows. I remember being in high school anxiously anticipating the release of a new record from my favorite band. I recall wishing I could skip school to go to the mall on release day, or at the very least, rushing to the record store after school ended. I haven’t really felt that in the last five or so years with the increase in album leaks, advance listens, and digital servicing. But Radiohead managed to bring back the excitement of release day by making sure that everyone heard their new album for the first time on the same day in October. Thanks to Radiohead for reminding me how much I love music. Thanks for making me feel like a kid again too.

What did you wish you did more of in 2007? Last time I got to see Radiohead was June of 2006. I clearly didn’t see them enough in 2007!

What are you looking forward to in 2008? Radiohead’s North American Tour. I will be in attendance for every show within 1,000 miles. Or maybe I’ll even make my first venture to the UK too?
