Friday, November 30th, 2007

Against Me!AGAINST ME! is looking to help the charity, Harvest Of Hope Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to raise money for migrant farm workers and their families. The band and foundation are currently working to help a 6 year old girl from Tifton, GA who needs a life-saving bone marrow transplant.

Her doctors are saying the young girl needs a transplant within the next month and mounting medical bills and the costly proving to be something the family is unable to raise. UNKL Ipecac ToysOhhhh Lawdie, two little slices of heaven have just been combined.
UNKL Brands toy & design has teamed up with Ipecac Recordings for an extremely limited run toy subscription for 2008.

Ipecac Records? Toy Subscription? Yes, that’s right. For $100, you can subscribe for all twelve Ipecac Custom UniPo from UNKL designs. It’s limited to only 500 pieces, which makes it even more of a deal, as limited run pieces like this don’t typically come that cheap. Icluded are designs for some of my favorite artists, including Dalek, Peeping Tom, Fantomas, and Tomahawk (!!!), as well as the illustrious Desert Sessions. Alongside each toy delivered to your doorstep fresh and squeaky-clean every month, you also get limited edition show posters to go hand-in-hand with each month’s release (again, !!!!).

A definite must for any toyhead/audiophile or combo of the two (like me) that may be in your xmas gift list…Mom, Dad, Sis - I’m lookin’ at you…Who wants to be my favorite this year?

Yahoo! / AOL Could Possibly Shut Down Internet Radio Streams

Thursday, November 29th, 2007

Yahoo! and AOL, feeling the strainIt seems smaller internet radio stations aren’t the only ones that are feeling the pressure since the Washinton-based company SoundExchange proposed and got their agenda passed that increased streaming fees for artists this summer.

SoundExchage’s push was heavily objected to by many internet radio statons big and small. Now that the higer royalty fees are in place the burdon is getting too big for many to handle, forcing many online entities to shut down shop.

However, no one expected this “death blow” to be as far reaching as two major internet players. Both AOL and YAHOO! have announced that if revenues for their internet stations did not get better, they would be shutting down operation of those areas of their business.

So question…Is SoundExchange, which is intended to operate in the best interest of their artist clients too aggressive to get royalties and not operating in their clients best interest? For if they manage to shut down two of the largest sites out there? Are they cutting off an entire revenue stream for their clients even if at a lower royalty rate?

Could Nick Swardson Be The Next Adam Sandler?

Wednesday, November 28th, 2007

Nick SwardsonReno 911, Blades of Glory, I Know Pronounce You Chuck and Larry, The Benchwarmers…all parts of Nick Swardson’s career as an actor and comedian.

Plus, he just released his own CD called Party so it’s no surprise to hear people talking about him as the new Adam Sandler. While checking out HeyNielsen.com today to see if anyone else is as obsessed with Man Vs. Wild as I am, I checked out this post.

I don’t know if I can see him doing a Reign Over Me in the next 10 years, but I do think he is one to keep an eye on!

Mr. T And Billy Shatner Play World Of Warcraft

Wednesday, November 28th, 2007

Since everyone here in the office seems to have at least a small geek streak in them we found it tremendously funny that the creaters of the ridiculously large online video game World Of Warcraft tapped Mr. T and William Shatner to be spokesmen for them, “I’m A Shaman!”
