VIDEO: The Gaslight Anthem | “Ida Called You Woody, Joe”

Wednesday, September 26th, 2007

So we are huge fans of THE GASLIGHT ANTHEM here in the office. In fact we’ve been listening to their album Sink Or Swim so many times we even caught cynical Graham asking for us to give him the cd to put it into his iTunes this morning. Trust us, that’s a feat.

The band just released their next video (and my favorite song on the album) “Ida Called You Woody, Joe”. The song is reportedly about the first time lead singer Brian Fallon heard The Clash. The vid is of a jersey band doing what they do best, hanging out in Asbury Park, mixed with live footage of their show from Jersey City’s Iron Monkey back in July. If you look closely in the crowd you may even catch a glimps of our very own Bill Shouldis rocking out in the crowd taking some pictures.

The band just wrapped up a tour opening for Against Me! and is hitting the road with The Draft beginning in October. See them!

Sia Starts To Ramp Up Her Next Release, Launches Player

Wednesday, September 26th, 2007

SiaSIA has been knocking around the music world for the last few years with some good success. She spent some of hear earlier years as the vocalist for lounge rockers ZERO 7, but her career didn’t really see a boom until she embarked out on her own.

Her track “Breathe Me” a sparse and haunting piano ballad that was tapped to be the last song ever heard during the final montage of the amazing and critically raved about HBO series Six Feet Under. Her song played to the background of one Claire Fisher driving cross country to NYC as the final years of the main characters played out until their deaths.

Topping her previous album of beauty, Sia Furler will soon be releasing her 3rd LP onto the world titled Some People Have Real Problems this fall. An album that once again displays her powerful voice wile projecting sincerity and lyrics that swing between emotional self-awareness and youthful exuberance.

Interpol | Madison Square Garden, NYC | 9.14.2007

INTERPOL took the stage at New York City’s famed Madison Square Garden last week for their largest headlining show yet. The band’s nearly 2 hour set focused itself on material from their most recent effort Our Love To Admire, but saw the biggest crowd reaction during tracks from 2004’s Antics and their 2002 debut Turn On The Bright Lights. The band used a variety of stage backdrops and lighting schemes to highlight the songs, but (characteristic of Interpol) remained mostly stationary on the enormous MSG stage. Liars and Cat Power served as the openers to the show. (more…)
