The Explosion | Knitting Factory, NYC | 9.1.2007 | Their Final Show
posted by bill on September 5th, 2007 in Live, Music, News, Photos, The Explosion
THE EXPLOSION announced that they were about play their last song ever. They gathered in a circle and hugged each other before busting into “No Revolution” which sent the crowd running to the stage to take it over. The stage had so many people on it the only band member you could see was guitarist Dave Walsh playing on top of someone’s shoulders. Eventually the stage cleared and the crowd began the “one more song” chant. Luckily we were treated to a 2 song on encore…those 2 songs being…”No Revolution” and err…”No Revolution”! This is probably the only time an Explosion show can be compared to that of REEL BIG FISH (who play “Beer” like 10 times during every set). Before playing “No Revolution” 3 times, the band played a mix of all their releases and played a truly inspired and fun set. Details about the release for their posthumous full length might be announced soon…maybe.
Openers included THE ERGS who played a fun set of pop-punk goodness and Modern Life is War who put on one of the most intense live shows I have ever seen. Just check out the bass players face in the photos after the jump and you will totally understand.
