Sirius XMTrying their best to please the FCC and prove their proposed merger will benefit consumers, Sirius Satellite Radio and XM Satellite Radio announced yesterday a plan to offer more programming choices should their merger go through.

Critics of the merger concerned over potential price gouging will be pleased to hear that customers will be allowed to keep their current programming at the normal $12.95 monthly rate, or choose to receive all programming from both services for $14.99 monthly. A third “a la carte” option will be available, where customers can pick 50 non-premium (music and talk of the non-Stern/O+A variety) channels for $6.99 per month with the option for additional channels at $0.25 monthly. This proposed price plan could be a major step in the FCC passing the controversial merger.
