Late in the day Thursday, shoemaker Dr Martens released a statement about a recent add campaign they launched which portrayed the likes of 4 dead music icons hanging out in heaven with their boots their feat.
In a press release from the company’s Chief Executive, David Suddens he stated that the company did not commision the pictures and the ads run against their current advertising campain dedicated to developing new artists. Dr Martins also stated they have severed ties with Saatchi & Saatchi, the company commisioned for the project in the first place.
DR. MARTENS REGRETS THE USE OF UNAUTHORISED IMAGES
Dr Martens is very sorry for any offense that has been caused by the publication of images showing dead rock icons wearing Dr Martens boots.
Dr Martens did not commission the work as it runs counter to our current marketing activities based on FREEDM, which is dedicated to nurturing grass roots creativity and supporting emerging talent.
As a consequence, Dr Martens has terminated its relationship with the responsible agency.
