iPod Robot Can Intuitively Dance To Any Song, Attempt At World Domination Clearly The Next Step

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

I just read a CNN article about a new iPod dock called a “Miuro” that doubles as a dancing robot. Now, this isn’t a mere robot with programmed dances. No. This robot can dance to ANY song based on complex mathematical algorithms and other such things that we flesh-based beings have no hope of understanding.

Clearly, this signals the coming of the robotic apocalypse. As we would obviously have no defense against such an mechanized onslaught, I suggest you simply watch the below video and get REALLY excited when the cute little guy starts dancing.

First Guitar Hero III Video Surfaces

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

A video of Guitar Hero III in action has made its way online. Not that we expected anything wildly different, but it looks like not much has changed. The Star Power meter looks different and the character models look like they’ve gotten a bit of a face lift. But who cares - we can’t wait to rock out to “My Name is Jonas”!

MP3: The UNKLE EP Has Leaked…

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

Nights Temper EP The new EP from UNKLE - Night’s Temper (A prelude to War Stories) has trickled it’s way to the majesty of the interwebs through a few different sources… and oh my GOD is it good.

Tracks feature guests such as Autolux (on “People and Machines”)[YES!!!], The Duke Spirit (on “May Day”)[AWESOME!], and if the rumors is correct - Josh Homme playing guitar on “Chemistry” [YES!!! AGAIN!!!].

It’s such an amazing mix of sounds. Less dance-y than the previous UNKLE imports (Eye For an Eye, Big Brother Is Watching), and definitely has a more “rock” vibe to it, using far more dirty guitars and rocking drum lines, as opposed to the 808-heavy lines we’re used to from LaVelle. MP3 links & video after the jump….

VIDEO: Invitro |”When I Was A Planet”

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

Mikey Doling of Snot and his new band, INVITRO, has released the first video from their upcoming debut album. When I Was a Planet is the title track and pretty perfectly showcases the band’s zany punk rock/hard rock attitude. Something tells us the director has an affinity for cheesy Godzilla movies.

When I Was a Planet hits retail on August 7, a nod to the birthday of late Snot singer Lynn Strait. The album is available online now, however, through the Gridiron Records web store. The online offer includes a limited edition, autographed trading card from former NFL tackle Kyle Turley, who is a partner at Gridiron. $1 from each purchase will also be donated to the Homes for our Troops charity.

Microsoft Surface: Minority Report Comes To Life

Microsoft Surface

Yesterday, Microsoft demoed their new computer system dubbed Surface. It’s basically a mult-touch computer screen placed inside of a glass table. While you may be inclined to think (as I did) “Big deal, there are touch screen interfaces at Quick Chek - I’m fine with a keyboard and mouse” this video will show you some real-world uses for this technology. Just place your wireless camera onto the table and physically drag pictures into and out of it, without ever using a USB cable or syncing. When splitting a bill at a restaurant, everyone can just place their credit card on the table and drag their items onto their tab. Amazing!

Popular Mechanics has a more in-depth video here.

VIDEO: Soular | “So, This Is The Way It Feels”

The new SOULAR video has gone live. It’s a highly stylized video for their song “So, This Is The Way It Feels”, and definitely channels the spirit of Muse, Placebo, and Mew. The song is from the band’s latest album Love Crash Heal.

CBS Purchases Last.fm

Wednesday, May 30th, 2007

In an attempt to do SOMETHING about their dismal ratings, CBS has purchased Last.fm. The network hopes that they will be able to find a way to convince some of the 15 million (mostly younger) users of the online radio social networking site to give a damn about their mediocre programming.

One could speculate that PERHAPS the network will find a creative way to integrate the site into some innovative programming but I’m going to go ahead and not give them that much credit. Just saying. You can read the full article, from CNN, here.
