Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Have A New Movie, Announce Soundtrack, Matt Is Now 10 Again

Wednesday, February 28th, 2007

TMNTThis post only exists for me to re-live my childhood. I’ve known for some time that there is a new TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES movie due out March 23rd. Even better, it’s not supposed to be that lighthearted take with the pizza-loving dudes in costumes voiced by Corey Feldman like the earlier movies were. Rather this adaptation is supposed to be closer to the gritty and darker version of the series that was portrayed so awesomely in the comic books.

To go along with the movie, a soundtrack has been announced. Want to see who’s on it? Of course you do!

1. Rip It Up - Jet
2. Shell Shock - Gym Class Heroes
3. Bebop V. Rocksteady - Cobra Starship
4. Roses - Meg And Dia
5. This Will End With A Promise - Amber Pacific
6. Black Betty - Big City Rock
7. Lights Out - P.O.D.
8. Walking On Water - This Providence
9. Youth Like Tigers - Ever We Fall
10. Bring Me Along - Pepper
11. Red Flag - Billy Talent
12. There’s A Class For This - Cute Is What We Aim For

Oh and you can see trailers for the movie here.

Beirut Releases 2-Song eMusic Exclusive

Wednesday, February 28th, 2007

I signed onto eMusic this morning to see if I might find something new to use some of my 8 remaining downloads for the month on and what do I find? I find a Beirut, 2-song eMusic Exclusive EP! The collection is called Pompeii “Fountains and Tramways” and “Napoleon on the Bellorophon.”

Honestly, as much as I am all about Beirut, the songs are a bit weak. However, I am talking about Beirut here, which means the songs are  definitely worth the $.50 in credits you’ll need to pony up if you’re an eMusic subscriber.

MP3: Panthers | “Uncertainly”

Panthers

Brooklyn-based band PANTHERS have a new album The Trick due out this April via Vice records. We’ve heard it and it rocks! Not in a way your mom rocks while driving you to soccer practice in the minivan. It rocks more in a there’s-a-naked-dude-on-stage-cutting-himself-and-sweating-all-over-the-women-in-front-who’s-high-as-a-kite-making-out-with-her-hot-friend kinda way!

Don’t believe me? Take a listen to one of the new songs from their album. It’s called “Uncertainly”. So just so we’re clear you might get sweaty listening to it.

The Stooges

THE STOOGES are set to drop their first studio album on you in over 30 years. The band’s album The Weirdness is set to land in stores on March 6 via Virgin records and boasts the original lineup of Iggy Pop, brothers Ron and Scott Asheton. The death of original bassist Dave Alexander meant the band had to reach out for help and found it in legendary musician Mike Watt (Minutemen) to handle bass duties.

If you can’t wait the week, you can check out a new track of theirs “Free and Freaky”.

Tenacious D, The Best In Bluegrass

Tuesday, February 27th, 2007

Tenacious D Best In BluegrassEvery time I listen to TENACIOUS D’s music I think to myself, “How can this album be anymore awesomer?”. And then in my lack of a creative sprit, I get no further than that thought. It’s a really good thing that there are people out that that aren’t as limited as I, for the world would never have the record, Bluegrass Wrecks the Music of Tenacious D: This Is Just a Tribute. And what a sad world it would be if this album never existed.

On the album, the band Dust Bowl Cavaliers tear through the baddest of the badass tracks on The D’s album adding their bluegrass tones along the way. Check out snippets of the songs yourself but don’t saw we didn’t warn you of it’s awesomeness.
